SAXTONS RIVER, Vt. – “Lights! Camera! Auction!” will be the cry at Main Street Arts as the community arts center continues the celebration of its 30th birthday with its annual benefit gala Saturday, Sept. 22, beginning at 5 p.m.

A silent auction of art work, local services and donated goods will be on hand to tempt buyers, and Bill Stevens will auction off a group of special items, including an evening of wine and hors d’oeuvres on a veranda overlooking a flowing stream, with a vocal concert by a Broadway actor, and two tickets to the Broadway musical “Anastasia.”

Appetizers catered by Harvest Moon and a cash bar provided by the Saxtons River Inn will be available.

Among the artists who have contributed to the event are Charlie Hunter, Collin Leech, Jon McAuliffe, David Stern and Michele Ratté.

Other items in the auction include a piano tuning by Bill Ballard, a haircut at Boccacio’s, handmade jewelry, Key lime pies from Café Loco, and overnight stays at the Grafton Inn and the Latchis Hotel in Brattleboro.

Rick Cowan and Annesa Hartman will serve as emcees.

The event will be punctuated by show-stopping songs from MSA’s upcoming productions of “Chicago” and Charles Henry’s “Final Curtain,” and from recent MSA productions of “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well” and “Living in Paris” and other shows performed by some of MSA’s most talented actors under the musical direction of Ken Olsson.

A parodied song from “Urinetown” will spice up MSA’s fundraising efforts for a new bathroom for cast member use during theater productions.

Tickets are $25 and can be reserved by contacting MSA at (802) 869-2960, [email protected] or or online at mainstreetarts.org.

Now in its 30th year, Main Street Arts is a catalyst for arts and community, fostering creative expression through artistic experiences accessible to all.
