On Monday, Sept. 10 Vermont State Police released the news that on Thursday, Sept. 6, David Robichaud, 20, of Westminster, Vermont died while at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, of complications related to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time, the Vermont State Police has concluded its investigation into the matter.
On Thursday, Aug. 16 at 10:33 p.m. troopers from the Westminster Barracks responded to a residence at 341 Kimball Hill Road North in Westminster following a 911 call. The 911 caller reported hearing an argument followed by a gunshot. Responding troopers were speaking with subjects at the residence when they heard a gunshot from inside. When troopers went inside, they found a man armed with a firearm. This male fired one round from the weapon into his own neck. Troopers immediately provided medical care, including CPR, until emergency personnel arrived on scene. The man, eventually identified as Robichaud, was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where he is in critical condition.
Detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Major Crime Unit responded to investigate this incident. Police began a search for a second man, Jesse Morey, 26, who had fled the residence.
As of Aug. 17 Robichaud was in critical but stable condition and Morey was still missing. On Aug. 20 Morey contacted Vermont State Police, told them where he was, and willingly met with troopers to discuss the incident of Aug. 16.
