National Lifeline Awareness Week is Sept.10 through 14

CONCORD — The federally funded Lifeline Telephone Assistance Program can help low-income consumers stay connected to the local emergency services and community resources vital to all residents. The discounted telephone service available through the Lifeline Program makes it easier for consumers to stay connected and have access to emergency services and other community services, such as health care services, and to connect with family.

You may be qualified for a discount of $9.25 per month on your landline telephone service if your household income is no more than 135 percent of the federal poverty income guideline or if you participate in one of the following programs: Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Federal Public Housing, Food Stamps, Federal Veterans Affairs Veterans’ Pension, Federal Veterans Affairs Survivors’ Pension

Consumers not currently receiving the Lifeline discount should contact their telephone provider and ask for an application. Consumers are eligible for only one Lifeline discount in the household.

The number for Consolidated Communications is 866-571-6662.
