An ensemble of picker-singer-songwriters

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — The Steamboats, an ensemble of picker-singer-songwriters, combine reverence for the American vocal group with a progressive sensibility all their own. They will perform a Stone Church Arts concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 in the Chapel at Immanuel Episcopal Church, the stone church on the hill, at 20 Church Street.

Singers Nick Throop, Mario Rincon and Jon Jaffee hone gospel and a capella backgrounds, their soaring harmonies reminiscent of The Soul Stirrers and Fleet Foxes alike. Their debut EP, “Steamboats” (2015) features accordionist Kate Dunphy (Carte Blanche) and drummer Jon Shiffman (Bleachers). Their sophomore release, “Chosen Peace” (2016) is now available at steamboatsmusic.bandcamp.com

Elmore Magazine declared, “Perfectly in sync vocals against a lush, roots background prove that these men have come together to form a tight knit musical group that understands each other’s strengths, allowing them shine.” According to Ear to the Ground Music, “The compositions are great, the vocals are exceptional, and they just frankly ought to have more attention.”

Information and advance tickets are available in person at Village Square Booksellers on the Square in Bellows Falls, by phone at 802-460-0110, and online at www.stonechurcharts.org.
