Lois A. Gamash

NEWPORT — Lois A. Gamash, 80, died on Sept. 19,2018 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a period of declining health. She was born on Nov. 2, 1937 in Hanover to the late Norman W. Macie, Sr. and Marion (Bouchier) Macie. 

She attended school in West Springfield before attending Towle High School in Newport. She worked at Dorr Woolen Mill for 31 years and for several years at Fram Works. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of many years, Donald Gamash, and brothers, Norman Macie, Jr. and Stanley Macie. 

Surviving family include her daughter Lois Preble and her husband Edward Campbell of Washington; brothers Melvin Macie and Lawrence Macie; sister Carol Burdick; grandchildren Ronald Burpee, Stephen Burpee, Jr., and Donald Burpee; great-grandchildren Devin, Austin, Anthony, David, Daniel, Kelly, Dylan, Seth, and Michael Burpee; and many other extended family members.

Special thanks to Lois’ nephew George Burpee and her friend Sherry for all their compassionate care.

A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport on Friday Oct. 5, 2018 at 1 p.m.

Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
