WINDSOR, Vt. — Two persons were injured, at least one seriously, after a car hit a pedestrian Wednesday morning on Route 5 near the Harpoon Brewery.
A four-door sedan was traveling on Route 5 when it hit a pedestrian shortly before 11 a.m. The pedestrian had “serious” injuries and was removed to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital, said Windsor Fire Department spokesperson Melissa Williams. The driver, the only occupant in the car, suffered injuries believed to not be life-threatening and was taken to Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center.
Neither of the names of the persons have been released.
Vermont State Police assisted Windsor police and fire departments in the investigation of the accident. No cause has been determined, but there is no indication so far of any alcohol, drug or other factors in the driver, said Williams.
The investigation closed the section of Route 5 for about three hours, with the road opening again to traffic at 2 p.m.
