SWANZEY — The Northeast Basketmakers Guild (NBG) Fall retreat will be hosted in Swanzey on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the First Congregational Church, 679 Old Homestead Highway. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and classes are from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.. The cost varies depending upon the basket each student selects.
Four notable teachers will lead a full day of workshops for weavers at all levels. This year’s exciting teachers are Peggy Thrasher (teaching a walnut dish), Dona Nazarenko (Shaker style basket), Joyce Flower (Riff Raff Holiday Basket) and Mary Jo Rushlow (Shaker Bread Basket). Participants will leave with a completed basket, having spent the day in the company of friends new and old.
The Fall Retreat promotes NBG’s mission to further the art of basketry by nurturing the development of new basketmakers, while celebrating and supporting accomplished basketmakers. Past events have provided wonderful opportunities for teachers and participants alike.
Registration materials are available on the NBG website at: www.northeastbasketmakers.org/. Questions? Contact Carolyn Noah ([email protected]) or Lyn Haas ([email protected]), event co-chairs.
