NEWPORT — We can’t count the number of times we have been asked, when can we go downstairs?
We will be putting your curiosity to rest on Oct. 19 at the Newport Senior Center. Mark your calendars, Oct. 19 will be our open house from 3-6 p.m. and it is at that time everyone will be able to explore the new 4,000 square foot expansion.
This day seemed like it would never come but, it is right around the corner and could not have happened without the support of so many of you. We would like to extend our most sincere appreciation to all of those who supported us in any way to improve our physical asset for the community to enjoy for years to come.
The project was arranged so that we could continue to deliver services throughout the construction phase. As construction winds down, services continue to grow. Starting Monday, the foot clinic, line dancing, pitch and our new matter of balance classes started at 9:30 a.m.
Tuesday and Thursday is the strength, balance and flexibility class. Wednesday is packed full with the new matter of balance second class, foot clinic, and bingo and flu shots. Flu shots will be provided by LSVNA from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Cribbage has started on Fridays and will begin at 12:30 p.m. Don’t forget home-made lunches are provided by Sullivan County Nutrition Services each Monday through Friday at 11:45 a.m. You must be 60-plus years of age to participate our lunch program and the suggested donation is $2 per meal. All meals are prepared and cooked daily.
Activities are being added weekly so be sure to visit each week to learn what is new.
As your daily newspaper, we are committed to providing you with important local news coverage for Sullivan County and the surrounding areas.
