HENNIKER, N.H. (AP) — A library that has been an anchor for more than 100 years in a New Hampshire community has been named the best in the state.
The New Hampshire Library Trustees Association picked the winner of the state’s Library of the Year award on Thursday. The Concord Monitor reports the association has selected Henniker’s Tucker Free Library.
Library Director Lynn Pitrowicz says everyone should feel “enormous pride that this honor brings to our community.” The award recognizes libraries that demonstrate improvement in services and technology and a value to the community.
The Tucker Free Library has served Henniker for 114 years and has a collection of 18,990 volumes. More than half of the collection has been added since 2011.
The library will be honored at its location Nov. 1.
