CHARLESTOWN — Barbara M. Balcom, 83, of Charlestown passed away on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Unity.
She was born in Gageville, Vermont on Sept. 2, 1935 the daughter of Charles Franklin and Evelyn May (Largess) Dolloph.
Barbara was a nurse at the Sullivan County Nursing Home for over 22 years.
She had been a member and secretary with the Charlestown Lions Club, Queen Bee of the Red Hat Society and member of the “Silver Tones.” She enjoyed volunteering at the Charlestown Senior Center, selling raffle tickets at their band concerts, cooking, knitting and reading.
She is survived by her companion John Tenney Sr.; her children, Bobbie R. Williams and her husband Joseph of Cape Coral, Florida, Kimberley A. St. Pierre and her husband Francis of Unity, Charles E. Balcom and his wife Christine of Edgar Springs, Missouri, Steven P. Balcom and his wife Cybil of Aiken, South Carolina, and James R. Balcom and his wife Karen of Charlestown; 18 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Raymond E. Balcom; daughter Judith M. Balcom; grandson Sean Balcom and sister, Jean Blair.
A graveside service will be held in Hope Hill Cemetery in North Charlestown on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at the Charlestown Senior Center from 2 to 4 p.m.
