Cocktail and Mocktail competition finalists are named in Granite State

CONCORD — While cooler weather is descending on New England, the football season is heating up, and the New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) and Jack Daniel’s are encouraging sports fans to cheer on their favorite teams responsibly.

Through its Live Free & Host Responsibly Campaign, NHLC and Jack Daniel’s are providing fans with low-alcohol and alcohol-free drink recipes, tasty tailgating fare and responsibility tips to provide a safe and fun experience. NHLC and Jack Daniel’s have also named finalists for the Live Free & Host Responsibly Cocktail & Mocktail Competition, set to take place Monday Oct. 29, at 5:30 p.m. at the New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlet at 294 Daniel Webster Highway in the Willow Spring Plaza in Nashua.

“Whether you are enjoying the game at a restaurant, stadium or in your living room, it is important to ensure that everyone in your party is celebrating responsibly,” said NHLC Chairman Joseph Mollica.

“Responsibility is a key tenet of the New Hampshire Liquor Commission’s mission and we thank Brown-Forman for their years of continued partnership and support on the Live Free and Host Responsibility campaign.”

Tim Laird, America’s Chief Entertaining Officer from Brown-Forman introduced a seasonal apple spin to a delicious classic cocktail for entertaining. The low-alcohol Cider Mule features Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey, fresh apple cider and ginger beer over ice. An alcohol-free Cider Team Mule replaces the spirit with iced tea. Those beverages are paired with a rich yet easy-to-make bacon and pecan pimento cheese. Easy step-by-step instructional videos and recipes are available at www.liquorandwineoutlets.com/responsibility.

The initiative also emphasizes the importance of ensuring guests stay adequately hydrated and nourished, follow an example of responsible consumption led by the host, and have safe rides home through designated drivers and ride-sharing services.

NHLC and Jack Daniel’s have also announced the finalists for its Cocktail & Mocktail Competition. Finalists in the professional bartender and home consumer category created a unique cocktail recipe utilizing products from the Jack Daniel’s Family of Brands, and one “mocktail,” or alcohol-free option to serve as an alternative. The following entrants will compete for a chance to win $500 cash and Jack Daniel’s prizes:

Alicia Carey – Jack Daniel’s Lemon Berry Cocktail / Lemon Berry Iced Tea Mocktail

Doug Nelson – Sugar Shack Northern Julep / Sugar Shack Clean Julep

James Conforti – Tennessee Sunset / Tennessee Sunrise

“Brown-Forman is dedicated to the responsible sale and service of our family of products,” said Taylor Amerman, corporate responsibility manager for Brown-Forman, which owns Jack Daniel’s. “Partnerships with the New Hampshire Liquor Commission on programs like Live Free and Host Responsibly emphasize that commitment. No matter what team you root for, everyone can rally behind responsibly.”
