Helicopter will help replace propane tanks on Green Mt.

CLAREMONT — Sullivan County is seeking bids from well-qualified firms to help replace four propane tanks on the top of Green Mountain in Claremont.

There is one catch, however. The winning bidder must have a helicopter to perform the task.

Fur 100-gallon propane tanks, which may contain a portion of propane gas from the Green Mountain location must be removed and replaced with four new tanks filled with propane.

The tanks are situated in close proximity to a building as well as multiple towers and their connecting infrastructure.

From there, the tanks will be transported to a property on Blueberry Ridge Road in the Town of Newport were each tank will be lowered to the bed of vehicle.

As each tank is removed and lowered to the Newport location, a “full” (80 percent capacity) 100-gallon propane will be removed from the truck, lifted back up to the location on Green Mountain and lowered into the place of the previous tank.

In all, four tanks will be removed from the Claremont location and replaced by the four full tanks.

At each location, a certified representative from Eastern Propane will be located to assist with the removal and replacement of each tank.

It is anticipated that the Sullivan County Board of Commissioners will award this project during a regular public business meeting generally held the first or third Monday of each month,
