LEMPSTER — Robert E. Bushway, Sr., 79, died on Oct. 25, 2018 at his home in Lempster surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 24, 1939 in Newbury to the late Walter and Helen (Russell) Bushway.
Robert was a bit of a homebody, enjoying spending time with his family at his house. He had lived in the Lempster area for more than 40 years. He worked as a logger and in a sawmill. He liked wrestling, boxing, horseracing, and watching old TV shows. He loved spending time with his wife of 46 years, Barbara, and the rest of the family.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, siblings, Phyllis Walker, Marlene Morin, and Morris Bushway, and uncle Frank Bushway.
Surviving family members include his loving wife Barbara (Walker) Bushway of Lempster; children, Robert Bushway, Jr. and his wife Cindy Linn of Lempster, Margaret Lizotte and her husband Albert of Texas, and Walter Bushway and his wife Angela of Newport; stepchildren, Emma Pelletier and her husband Allan of Goshen, Ruth Quimby and her husband Leander of Laconia, Helen Blaine and her husband David of Lempster, Maurice Bushway of North Dakota, and William Bushway of Lempster; sister Ruth Walker of Denver, Colorado; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Liver Foundation, New England Division, 188 Needham Street Suite 240, Newton, MA 02464.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport. A graveside service will be held the following day, Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the South Newbury Cemetery in Newbury.
