LEMPSTER — Wayne M. Groat, 59, died on Oct. 23, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Cheshire Medical Center, after a long illness.
Born on July 28, 1959 to the late Carl and Laura (Brault) Groat, Wayne was raised in Killingworth, Connecticut. After graduating from high school, Wayne worked as a truck driver for the Department of Transportation. He married the love of his life, Kimberly (Matthies) on June 27, 1987. The pair moved to New Hampshire in 1990, where they made Lempster their home and started a loving family.
Wayne was known for his excellent sense of humor, being a family man, and the glue that held everyone together. He never got mad, would give you his last dollar or the shirt off his back, and loved all animals, especially his dogs, Snoopy and Cocoa.
He is predeceased by his parents; his brother, Paul Groat; and his sisters, Audrey Cote and Penny Groat. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kim; his daughters, Heather Davis and Laura (Groat) Kmeic and her husband Randy; three grandchildren, Mallory, Joshua, and Cheyenne; sisters, Coreen McAlpine and her husband Glen, Gail Curry, Melissa Slack, and “adopted sister” Carol Carley; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loving friends.

Visitation will be held at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St. Newport, NH 03773 on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m.
