WESTMINSTER, Vt. – Leading 18-12 with 4:06 to play, U-32 stopped Bellows Falls on fourth down to put them in position to ruin out the clock. However, on the first play from scrimmage the Raiders fumbled it back to BF on the 14-yard line. BF promptly tied the game at 18-18 on a Griffin Waryas’ pass to Nick Rawling.
BF then sent Jeb Monier to boot the go-ahead point but his kick hit the post and was off the mark. He was roughed on the kick, giving him one more chance. However, before he could get the ball off, a Raider was called for off-sides giving BF the ball on the 1-yard line.
BF coach Bob Lockerby sent the offense back on the field and Jed Lober scored the two-point conversion run to make it 20-18.
U-32 still had 3:08 to make something happen. But after the kickoff return only got them to their own 27, a pass attempt on first down was tipped and picked off by BF’s Braden Maxfield.
BF started the game in rough shape. The Terriers fumbled the ball twice in the opening quarter and U-32 scored off both turnovers to take a 12-0 lead.
BF spent the rest of the night scrambling until it got into the fourth quarter.
