ANDOVER — The top-seeded Sunapee Lakers overcame a slow start to eliminate eighth-seeded Moultonborough 4-0 Oct. 28 at Proctor Academy in the Division IV girls soccer quarterfinals.

The game was originally scheduled to be a home game for the Lakers but was moved to Proctor Academy when Alexander Field was deemed unplayable.

“I want to thank Proctor for offering their wonderful facility,” Sunapee girls soccer coach Myles Cooney said. “It would have been nice to play at home, the kids earned it. Our field struggles with drainage and the forecast didn’t look promising.”

The high-powered Lakers only put up two goals in the first half as Abby Pollari scored on an assist from Marybeth Groton and another tally from Louise Groton.

“We were tight and played nervous,” Cooney said. “Our decision making was not solid in the first half and spotty in the second.”

The Lakers were playing after a nine-day layoff and it showed throughout the game.
