Richard P. Lambert

NEWBURY — Richard P. Lambert, 78, of Park Ten Road, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Claremont on March 31, 1940 the son of Raymond D. Lambert and Anna (Laskevich) Davis.

He spent his early years in Claremont and worked in various different capacities. He was a repairman with WT Grant’s, owned and operated a florist shop in New London and had been a repairman for New London Fuel Co. Richard worked for himself repairing small appliances at his business, Lambert’s Appliance Service. He owned and operated with his wife “For the Birds” doing woodworking and making birdhouses. He was a very good craftsman and built a gambrel garage for their home on his own, as well as additions.

He lived in Claremont, Newport and then in Newbury for the past 45+ years. Richard was a member and former deacon and trustee at Sunshine Baptist Church in Newport, becoming a Christian in 1983. He supported disabled veterans and the NRA and had the comforting companionship of his much loved cat, Dusty. He enjoyed cars,trains, and planes, and building models of them. Collecting things was a favorite pastime as well, and he had quite an assortment of movies, watches, jack knives and flashlights. Richard enjoyed nature, fishing, hunting, and animals. He was a good man and was a great husband, father and grandfather and always liked having children around.

He is predeceased by a brother Raymond and his wife June, in-laws Richard A. Blake, Evelyn B. (Smith) McFadden and a sister-in-law, Catherine King. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Carol (Blake) Lambert of Newbury; his daughter, Shane Anderson of Newport and her daughters, Hayley and Emma. His son and wife, Stephen and Roseanne Lambert of Newbury, and their two daughters, Angelina and Caroline; a sister and her husband, Sheila and Larry Britton of Newport, and their daughter and husband, Meredith and Joshua Carrien and their son, Matty; two sisters-in-law, Linda Rossetti and Annie Gagnon and a close family friend, Sandra Breault and her husband Dave.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at The Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Claremont.
