As of this writing, things look pretty good for Windsor County incumbents.
With 87.5 percent of precincts reporting, incumbent Democrats Alice Nitka (Ludlow), Alison Clarkson (Woodstock) and Dick MacCormack (Bethel) were holding comfortable leads over their Republican challengers in the windsor County Senate race.
This trend was reflected locally. Springfield returned Alice Emmons (1,407 votes) and Bob Forguites (1,290), both Democrats, to the state House of Representatives. Republican Beth Gray did well, with 1,138 votes.
Springfield voters backed Nitka (1,460 votes), Clarkson (1,319), and MacCormack 1,243 votes. Springfield resident Randy Gray garnered 1,210 votes. Jack Williams (Weathersfield) won 948 votes, and Wayne Townsend (Bethel) had 858 votes.
In Chester, Nitka won 695 votes, Clarkson 665, and MacCormack 550. Of the Republicans, Gray garnered 439 votes, Williams with 369, and Townsend (Bethel) with 329 votes.
In Windham County, incumbents Democrats Becca Balint and Jeanette White appeared headed back to the state Senate. Rockingham reported Balint with 1,005 votes, with White attracting 998. Republican /tyler Colford won 402 votes.
