WINDSOR, Vt. — On Wednesday, Nov. 14 the Ascutney Mountain Promise Community, Building Bright Futures, and the Springfield Parent Child Center bring the film, Resilience: the Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope to Windsor, Vermont. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, family member, someone who works with kids, or are just a member of the community who wants to see children succeed, we hope you will attend.
Resilience is a documentary that explores the science of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and resulting toxic stress, one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression. The film also looks at a new movement among pediatricians, therapists, educators, and communities to disrupt cycles of violence, addiction, and disease. If you are interested in gaining a better understanding on how trauma affects behavior and health and how you can be a positive influence on youth in your community, please join us for this pivotal evening.
The hour-long film, followed by a discussion, will be shown at the Welcome Center, 2 Railroad Ave, in Windsor, Vermont at 5:30 p.m., with sign-in and light snacks starting at 5 p.m. Childcare will be available, if needed. Professional development credit is available to childcare providers through Northern Lights. To register, call the Windsor Connections Resource Center at 802-674-2900. Walk-ins are also welcome.
