CLAREMONT — Victor L. Petrin, 93, of Goffstown, died Oct. 26, 2018 at Bel-Air Nursing Home, after a period of declining health.
Born in Claremont on June 13, 1925, he was the son of Albert O. and Flora (Joyal) Petrin. He was raised in Claremont and attended local schools.
During World War II, he served with the United States Army. Afterwards, he served with the New Hampshire Army Reserves.
In his early years, he was employed with Joy Manufacturing. Later, he worked for his father-in-law at Elm City Oil, Keene, for 32 years. Until his retirement, he was employed with Cheshire Oil.
Victor was a fourth-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council #819, Keene.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and gardening. Cooking was one of his favorite pastimes. He was fond of cats. Victor loved spending time with his family who brought him endless pride and joy. Known for his sense of humor and jokes, he reveled in bringing a laugh to those around him. Victor will be remembered for his kind and gentle ways, as well as his devotion to his family.
Family members include his wife, of 69 years, Ruth E. (George) Petrin; two daughters, Susan Hughes and her husband Rick of Orange, California and Bonnie Guevin and John Maul of Goffstown; five grandchildren, Christopher Saari, Jeffrey Saari, Courtney Earley, Victoria Dyer, and Elizabeth Short; eight great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Petrin of Claremont; a sister, Anna Routhier of Webster, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester.
A funeral service with military honors will follow in the funeral home at 4 p.m.
