Weather Watch

Bone-chilling cold

As we move closer and closer to winter, the natives are starting to make note of frosty mornings and cooler temperatures.

At the Mount Washington Observatory (6,220 feet), the weather conditions are starting to stand out. At 2 p.m. on Friday the temperature was 17 degrees, dropping down to 0 with the wind chill. Down here in the Valley our morning low came in at 27.

According to Mount Washington Observatory Staff Meteorologist Christopher Hohman, Mount Washington was expecting 5-7 inches of snow Friday along with an additional 1-2 inches of sleet.

Mount Sunapee would probably love that amount of snow this early in the season but not the sleet.

Around the 1 p.m. hour on Saturday a batch of light snow flurries passed through the area before the sun returned….just a reminder of what’s ahead.

At the Observatory Sunday morning the temperature was 2 degrees and the mountain recorded 5.2 inches of snow during the last 24 hours.
