Diamontina Rego

CLAREMONT — Diamontina “Tina” Rego, 90, passed peacefully on Nov. 19, 2018 at the Sullivan County Nursing Home. She was born on April 20, 1928 in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts to John and Mary DeMello.

On Sept. 2, 1949 she married Aristedes “Bill” Rego in a little church in the village of Padanaram, located in Dartmouth. Bill predeceased Tina in 2011. While living in Dartmouth she was a devoted full-time mother and housewife. Tina loved sewing, knitting, gardening, and camping with her family. She and her husband traveled the United States in their motor home in the ’70s and ’80s. In 1988 they moved to Claremont to be close to their grandchildren. They enjoyed their little home in the country, where they gardened in the summer and camped in Florida during the winter months, enjoying country music, and singing around the campfire.

She leaves behind a daughter, Bonita “Bonnie” Miles and her husband Jim of Claremont, and her son Lawrence Rego and his wife Michele of Wingate, North Carolina; three grandsons Joel Pickering and his companion Kelly Sheehan of Northwood, Jonathon Pickering and his wife Jenny of Weare, and Christopher Pickering and his wife Jessica of Bradford; a grandaughter Molly Rego Hawkins and her husband Brandon of Asheville, North Carolina; and six grandchildren, Katrina, Arianna, Thomas, Sam, Brooke, and Haley Pickering.
