CLAREMONT — Marilyn B. Livingston, 94, of Grissom Lane in Claremont died Nov. 14 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Claremont on Oct. 13, 1924, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Jeffords) Brown. She was a lifetime Claremont resident, attending Claremont schools and graduating from Stevens High School, Class of 1942. Marilyn was an integral part of Union Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir and was active in the Episcopal Church Women. She taught Sunday school for many years, as well as serving as its superintendent. She was very active in 4-H as leader of the Lucky Leaf 4-H Club, including teaching sewing and cooking. She made dolls, doll clothes, and her daughters’ prom dresses. She made the best tomato marmalade and rhubarb conserve and was famous for her homemade pink applesauce. After her children were grown, she became a certified nursing assistant and worked at the Sullivan County Home for 12 years.

She married Ervin Fitch Livingston on Sept. 15, 1943. He predeceased her on August 28, 2014, one month shy of their 71st anniversary. Marilyn is survived by their five children: a son, Bruce Livingston of Claremont; four daughters, Karlaine Livingston of Claremont, Hazel Piper and her husband Larry of Reading, Massachusetts; Susan Shuford and her husband Richard of Townsend, Massachusetts; and April LeClair of Hollywood, Florida; nine grandchildren, Jessica Piper and her husband Victor, Justin Piper, Zachary Piper and his wife Katy, David Shuford, Rebecca Shuford, Paul Livingston, Erica Livingston, Tristan LeClair, and India Dansereau; two great-grandchildren, Anderson Piper and Paige Livingston, with a third expected soon; a cousin, Kayren Morrill, and six nieces and ten nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Dwight Brown, Cecil Brown, and Lloyd Brown; two sisters, Beverly Jones and Elaine Felton; one niece and three nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 15 at Union Episcopal Church with Rector Richard Davenport officiating. A reception in the parish hall will follow immediately after the service. Graveside committal services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roy Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
