CLAREMONT — On Tuesday, Nov. 27 Claremont councilman and local businessman Nick Koloski will begin at 9:30 a.m. to load a loaner box truck from Springfield GMC with 400-something toys and a few hundred stuffed animals. Load in will be at Time-Out Americana Grill at 101 Mulberry Street. Koloski has asked for volunteers to assist with the loading.
Koloski will be making two stops at area hospitals to drop off comfort items for kids and then proceeding to Lebanon. He will also stop at PetSmart to pick items donated by customers and then then continue on to Lebanon to make a large delivery to CHaD. He is seeking volunteers to help with the off loading of items at ChaD as well.
Koloski was a child patient at Mary Hitchcock, the predecessor of CHaD. “Being blind for a period of my life as a child,” he said, “I remember the comfort the toy room provided.”
The businessman donates his Nascar firefighting check and Claremont call firefighter yearly stipend toward this cause. “Additional toy donations,” he said, “helped knock it out of the park.
“If you want to be involved but can’t make it this time around,” Koloski said, “I do the same on Christmas Eve to hospitals and agencies. I’ll gladly accept help as I would be able to do more deliveries.”
