Lescord named October Elks Student of the Month

COURTESY
BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — It is a pleasure to announce that Kara Lescord has been named the October Elks Student of the Month for Bellows Falls Union High School. Kara, a junior, is the daughter of Zena and Kevin Lescord of Bellows Falls.

Kara works hard in her classes and puts in the time she needs to improve her skills. Always willing to offer assistance when a classmate has a question, Kara is a good role model to others and a pleasure to work with.

Her positive and caring attitude makes her a great addition to any class or group. She is kind to all students, and she goes out of her way to make people feel welcomed and accepted. Kara is often one of the first to offer to help anyone in need.

Kara is attentive in her classes, but she is also a good independent learner who seeks out topics that are unknown and interesting to her to broaden her horizons.

Not only is Kara a hard working student, she works hard in her outside activities as well. Since being at BFUHS, she has played field hockey and softball, and has been a member of the track team. Through her involvement in these activities, she supports her teammates and serves as a positive representative of the school and community.

As a member of the Greater Falls Connection board, a member of the youth group Above the Influence and also of Friends for Change, Kara is clearly dedicated to serving and improving her community. Through her involvement with these organizations, she plans and hosts community forums, organizes activities for the youth in the area and works to help those in need. Kara is also doing a work study with the restorative justice center in Bellows Falls.

A dedicated young woman who not only works hard in her classes, but is also motivated to improve the lives of others, Kara is clearly deserving of this award this month. Congratulations go to Kara. The Elks and BFUHS are honored to have her represent us as the October Elks Student of the Month.
