Both Windsor and Springfield football were well represented in the Vermont Interscholastic Football D-III All-State selections.
Both programs saw many key losses due to graduation from their 2017 teams and were still very much in the in the mix in Division 3, and it shows with how many players were honored. There were 15 Yellow Jacket selections and 14 Cosmos who earned recognition.
For Windsor, Robert Slocum earned three first-team selections himself, as running back, linebacker, and kicker.
Along with Slocum, Bryson Jester of Springfield also made the first team as a linebacker.
Owen Abrahamsen of Windsor and Anthony Steele of Springfield were two of three wide receivers to earn first team selections.
Deacon Watson (Springfield) and Gavin Harriman (Windsor) both made the first team on the O-line. Harriman was also named first team on the D-line.
Poultney head coach Dave Capman was voted coach of the year, joining his grandson, Caden Capman, who was named first string at quarterback and defensive back.
Capman’s backfield mate, Jacob Allen, was a first-team pick at running back and linebacker.
State champion Woodstock also grabbed seven first-team spots.
The Woodstock Wasps defeated the Poultney Blue Devils 28-21 in the championship game earlier this month but Poultney will be expected to vie for the 2019 title with much of its team coming back next season.
