Vital Communities kicks off 25th anniversary at the engine room, honors volunteers of the year

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. — Vital Communities will kick off its 25th anniversary celebration with an annual open house on Friday, Dec. 7, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at The Engine Room in White River Junction. The event, free and open to the public, will feature abundant appetizers and beverages, time to connect with Vital Communities supporters old and new, the presentation of the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award at 6 p.m., and more. Plus, all are welcome to enjoy a free concert by Upper Valley favorites The Conniption Fits starting at 8 p.m.

“Open house is one of our favorite events every year: we get to celebrate with the people who make the work of Vital Communities possible and share our passion with folks who are new to our organization,” says Executive Director Tom Roberts. “We kick off our year-long 25th anniversary celebration at this year’s Open House. We’re excited to reflect together on our collective impact in the Upper Valley over 25 years and especially to look forward to what’s coming in the next quarter century.”

At the open house, Vital Communities will honor this year’s Volunteers of the Year: Lois and Ted Frazer of Etna, and Linda and Tom Kahl of White River Junction. The four — two sisters and their husbands — have spent years keeping the Valley Quest program strong as box monitors, writing and revising Quests, building unique Quest treasure boxes, and inspiring others to find their own passion in exploring the Upper Valley’s history, ecology, and special places through Valley Quest.

Vital Communities will also unveil its new logo at the Open House.

Information and registration are available online: VitalCommunities.org/OpenHouse.

The Dec. 7 open house is just the first of several celebratory events throughout the 25th anniversary year of 2019. For more information, visit VitalCommunities.org/Calendar.
