Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith to visit New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Tracy K. Smith, the nation’s poet laureate, is going to be honored in New Hampshire.

She’ll be receiving the Hall-Kenyon Prize in American Poetry on Dec. 12 at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester.

The award honors the late Donald Hall and Jane Kenyon, married poets who lived and wrote at Hall’s ancestral home in Wilmot, New Hampshire.

Hall, who died in June, is a former poet laureate of the United States and a recipient of the 2010 National Medal of the Arts. Kenyon is a former poet laureate of New Hampshire. New Hampshire Public Radio is sponsoring the Hall-Kenyon Prize as a tribute to their works and lives.

The event will include a reading from Smith and a remembrance of Hall.
