SPRINGFIELD — Steven C. Bailey, 72, of Springfield passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Dec.18, 2018 in Springfield.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home at 42 Main Street in Newport.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home at 42 Main Street in Newport.
Steve was born in Somerville, Massachusetts to Parker and June Bailey on Aug. 28,1946. He married Linda Curren on Nov. 18, 1965 in Waltham, Massachusetts. He worked as a manufacturing supervisor for over 30 years. He was a member of the Enfield and Grantham police departments and served as chief of police in Springfield for many years. He also served as a first responder in Grantham and Springfield and was awarded lifetime membership in the Grantham F.A.S.T. Squad. He was involved in his church and was a member of the church’s men’s group. In his retirement he worked at Home Depot in Claremont and as a substitute teacher at Sunapee Middle High School.
Steven is survived by his wife Linda, his son David Bailey and his wife Nikki, his son Daniel Bailey and his wife Michele, his daughter Amanda Mace and her husband Gavin, his son Robert Bailey, his son Timothy Bailey; his brothers Parker, Fred, and Jay Bailey, his sister Carla Forsythe; and his adored grandchildren, Rebecca, Isaac, James, Alexander, Lydia, Stella, Tyler, Brooklyn, Jonathan, and Elora.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Steven Bailey Memorial Fund at Sugar River Savings Bank, a scholarship for students who wish to pursue further education in the manufacturing industry.
The family of Steven wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors of the Norris-Cotton Cancer Center, the Lake Sunapee Area VNA Hospice nurses, Pastor Doug Cooper, and everyone whoever prayed for or cared about Steve.
