Sunapee 42, Wilton-Lyndeborough 22
WILTON –Sunapee used its stingy defense to run past Wilton-Lyndeborough, 42-22, Dec. 14.
The win was the first of the season for the Lakers after three losses.
Marybeth Groton led Sunapee with 12 points, while Miah Hamm added 11 and Abby Pollari nine.
Laconia 44, Stevens 29
LACONIA –Stevens lost on the road at Laconia, 44-29, Dec. 14.
Stevens led at the half but the Sachems took over in the third quarter to beat the Cards going away.
Laconia outscored Stevens 29-11 in the second half.
Jenna Pond led Stevens with 11 points.
The Cardinals fell to 1-2 with the loss.
Mount Royal 50, Sunapee 33
SUNAPEE –Sunapee put together a pair of solid halves to beat crosstown rival Sunapee, 50-33, Dec. 11 at home.
The Knights used a 14-3 edge in the second quarter to take a 28-12 halftime lead.
Alexis Matte led Mount Royal with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Sophie LaRose tossed in 14, Jacinta Hogan nine and Erin Diebold seven. Diebold also added 10 rebounds.
Fiona Nolan paced the Lakers with eight points.
Kearsarge 39, Stevens 24
CLAREMONT –Kearsarge turned a close game through two quarters into a solid win beating Stevens, 39-24, Dec. 11 at the Carr Gym.
The Cougars led 18-16 at the break and rolled in the second half.
Stevens was led by Sydney Miller with a game-high 13 points, while Carrie Faro added six.
Kearsarge was paced by Tori Andrewski with 12 points, followed by Caroline Camp with seven and Rayna Tucker with six.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Kearsarge 52, Lebanon 50
NORTH SUTTON –Kearsarge thrilled the home crowd with a season-opening win over Lebanon, 52-50, Dec. 14.
Noah Tremblay knocked down a jumper and added a free throw with 4.7 seconds left to lift the Cougars over the Raiders.
Adrian McCarthy scored 12 points and eight rebounds to lead the Cougars. Kyle Hernon added 10 points and 14 rebounds and Ben Carl added 10.
Sunapee 59, Wilton-Lyndeborough 50
WILTON –Sunapee improved to 3-0 with an impressive road win at Wilton-Lyndeborough, 59-50, Dec. 14.
The Lakers trailed by six at the half but played a solid second half for the win.
Jordan Chappell led Sunapee with 18 points, while Zach Belisle added 13 and Kevin Nolan 10.
Farmington 54, Mount Royal 46
FARMINGTON –Mount Royal fell to 1-2 with a loss at Farmington, 54-46, Dec. 14.
The Knights fell behind early in the game and couldn’t come back against the Tigers.
Brendan Moorehouse led the Knights with 14 points while Andrew Normandin added 13.
Laconia 65, Stevens 37
CLAREMONT –Laconia rolled early in a win over Stevens, 65-37, Dec. 14 at Carr Gym.
The Sachems used a big third quarter to pull away from the Cardinals.
Derrick Stanhope led Stevens with 14 points, while Josh Stithen added seven.
Sunapee 45, Mount Royal 35
SUNAPEE –Sunapee came from behind to beat crosstown rival Mount Royal, 45-35, Dec. 11 on the road.
The Knights led 18-14 at the half but the Lakers took control in the third quarter.
Mount Royal’s Andrew Normandin led all scorers with 18 points, while Brendan Moorehouse added eight.
Zach Belisle and Jordan Chappell paced the balanced Sunapee attack with 12 points. Brady Grzanna added seven.
