Patriots, Campbell’s Chunky donate 8,600 cans of soup to N.H. Food Bank

MANCHESTER — The New England Patriots Foundation and Campbell’s Chunky teamed up to donate more than 8,600 cans of Campbell’s Soups to the New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire.

Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower visited the New Hampshire Food Bank on Tuesday, Dec. 11, to make the special soup delivery.

For every point the Patriots scored during games this past October and November, the Patriots and Campbell’s donated 25 cans of soup. Along with the delivery, Hightower took a tour of the New Hampshire Food Bank and met with employees and volunteers.

“We are extremely appreciative of the generosity shown by the New England Patriots and Campbell’s Chunky. This donation comes at a critical time as the holidays can be a challenging time of year for many of the people we serve,” said Eileen Liponis, executive director, New Hampshire Food Bank.

“We are grateful for this support and we appreciate Dont’a taking the time to visit with our team and to see first-hand the work we do in support of the one in nine people in New Hampshire who are food insecure.”

The need continues to grow in New Hampshire. By year’s end, the New Hampshire Food Bank expects to deliver more than 14 million pounds of food to its network of more than 425 partner agencies statewide to meet the need.

Over the last five years, the New Hampshire Food Bank has increased its food distribution by more than 61 percent, from 8.5 million pounds of food in 2013 to 13.7 million pounds of food in 2017.
