Arrest on a warrant, violating conditions of release

LUDLOW, Vt. — On Dec. 30 at 11:06 p.m., Vermont State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Vermont Route 103 in the town of Ludlow (Windsor County), Vermont. The operator, Joseph A. Higginbotham, 27, of Springfield, Vermont was found to have three in-state arrest warrants for failure to appear. Higginbotham was found to also have been issued conditions of release on March 16 with one condition being that he under a 24-hour curfew and must not buy, have, or use any firearms or dangerous/deadly weapons. On Dec. 29, Higginbotham violated his conditions by breaking curfew and possessing a dangerous/deadly weapon.

Higginbotham was arrested for the in-state warrants, violation of conditions of release, and was transported to the Vermont State Police Barracks in Westminster for processing.

Higginbotham was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility with a criminal citation, and assigned bail of $1,000 on each of the three counts. He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division, on Dec. 31, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. to answer for the above charge.
