HART’S LOCATION — New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Paul J. Parisi announces that the Bartlett Fire Department, Bartlett Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Department and the Bartlett/Jackson Ambulance were called to Ripley Falls Road off of Route 302 in Hart’s Location on Dec. 29, 2018 at approximately 6:07 p.m. for a reported motor vehicle fire.
Upon arrival on scene at 6:25 p.m., units discovered a vehicle parked at the Ripley Falls Trailhead that was fully engulfed in fire. Bartlett Fire Department extinguished the fire and found one person deceased in the vehicle.
An autopsy was performed by the N.H. State Medical Examiner’s Office on Dec. 31, 2018. The victim was positively identified as Carolyn Bishop, 45, of Cornish. The cause of death was thermal injuries. The manner of death is undetermined and pending completion of the State Fire Marshal’s investigation.
The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is active and ongoing by members of the N.H. State Fire Marshal’s Office. However, no foul play is suspected.
