MANCHESTER — A proposed bill would legalize adult cannabis use in New Hampshire. State Rep. Renny Cushing (D-Hampton) authored the bill that will have a public hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Legislative Office Building, (LOB), 33 North State Street, Concord, Rooms 210-211 at 12:30 p.m. The full bill can be accessed at GenCourt.State.NH.US. The bill would legalize possession of up to an ounce of cannabis, 5G of concentrate, six plants per person or 500 mg of edibles for adults 21 years of age and older. The public is invited to attend.
The proposal would set up a cannabis control commission, similar to the New Hampshire State Liquor Commission that would oversee legalization, regulation, and taxation.
Taxes from sales will be shared in part by New Hampshire DHHS for early childhood education and substance abuse treatment and prevention, plus the New Hampshire Department of Safety for data and reporting according to the bill. Municipalities, where establishments or businesses are located, would share in the state-controlled revenue, with additional money going toward state public safety agencies.
