ROCKINGHAM, Vt. — On Jan. 30 at 10:30 a.m., the Vermont State Police responded to a two-car crash on Route 5 near Missing Link Road in the town of Rockingham. Upon arrival, it was determined that Katy Brooks, 25, of Bellows Falls, Vermont was traveling north on Route 5 in her 2006 Ford Van and failed to correctly negotiate a sharp curve in the roadway and as a result entered into the opposite lane. This maneuver caused the Ford van to strike a 2005 Honda CRV head on, causing injury to a passenger.
Brooks and a passenger of the Honda CRV were transported to Springfield Hospital with injuries to their chests and ribs. Both vehicles sustained significant front end damage.
Further investigation showed that the operator of the Honda, Robert Auclair, 59, of Weathersfield, Vermont had a criminally suspended license in Vermont. Auclair was made aware of the violation and will be criminally cited into court for the license violation. Brooks was issued a civil violation complaint for leaving her lane in an unsafe manner.
