SAXTONS RIVER, Vt. — Siblings Madeline Bergstrom and Liz Bergstrom have announced the formation of Bobolink Communications LLC, a Saxtons River-based family-owned business offering communications and marketing services for nonprofits and small businesses.
Founded by two experienced writers and digital content producers, Bobolink Communications provides website copy, social media management, public relations, grant writing and publications. Bobolink also builds Squarespace websites for small businesses and individuals.
Madeline has worked with nonprofits and educational institutions for over 20 years. She has a master’s degree in English and served most recently as director of communications at Vermont Academy. Liz was senior communications manager for the National Audubon Society’s climate change initiative, holds a master’s degree in writing, and has more than 12 years of experience working with nonprofits.
“I saw my first bobolink in a field on Hartley Hill near my house a few years ago,” Madeline said. “When I decided to make the leap and start my own business, I realized I wanted to name it after this striking bird.”
Madeline has lived in Saxtons River for 15 years. When Liz moved to the village recently, the sisters found that their skill sets were highly compatible. “I’ve worked with large national advocacy nonprofits,” said Liz, “and my sister has worked mostly with smaller Vermont nonprofits. We both have a passion for writing, editing, proofreading, and photography.” Both have also spent time designing and writing e-newsletters, creating small websites and managing large sites.
The sisters’ areas of experience also complement each other’s: While Madeline has worked extensively with print publications, Liz is familiar with a wider variety of digital content management platforms; and while Madeline has done more with social media management, Liz is more experienced with the demands of national public relations efforts.
Also involved in the new venture are Madeline and Liz’s mother, Susan Still, a nonprofit organization development consultant and grant writer who also lives in Saxtons River; and Nick Bergstrom, the pair’s brother, a technical writer and IT expert, of Seattle.
Madeline and Liz are currently working with several southern Vermont nonprofit organizations and business startups on projects ranging from an alumni magazine to a small business website. They are actively seeking more clients in New England and across the country. Bobolink Communications can be reached at bobolinkvermont.com or [email protected].
