SAXTONS RIVER, Vt. — Two experienced writers and digital content producers who happen to be sisters — Madeline and Liz Bergstrom — have joined forces to create a communications service agency called Bobolink Communications LLC.

Bobolink Communi-cations provides website copy, social media management, public

relations, grant writing and publications, and also builds Squarespace websites, according to their press release.

Also involved in the new venture are Madeline and Liz’s mother, Susan Still, a nonprofit organization development consultant and grant writer who also lives in Saxtons River; and Nick Bergstrom, the pair’s brother, a technical writer and IT expert, of Seattle.

Focus of the company will be on the nonprofit sector, helping small organizations get a foothold in the media world. Their first clients include an alumni magazine and a small business website. They are actively seeking more clients in New England and across the country.

The company’s name is a reference to a bird. “I saw my first bobolink in a field on Hartley Hill near my house a few years ago,” Madeline said. “When I decided to make the leap and start my own business, I realized I wanted to name it after this striking bird.”

Liz also has an avian bent, having once worked at the National Audubon Society. She was the senior communications manager for the organization’s climate change initiative, doing everything from writing and editing copy to running email and web campaigns.

Madeline has lived in Saxtons River for 15 years. When Liz moved to the village recently, the sisters found that their skill sets were highly compatible. “I’ve worked with large national advocacy nonprofits,” said Liz, “and my sister has worked mostly with smaller Vermont nonprofits. We both have a passion for writing, editing, proofreading, and photography.”

Both have also spent time designing and writing e-newsletters, creating small websites and managing large sites.

The experiences they don’t share are still complementary, they say: Liz has worked with a wide variety of digital content management platforms, while Madeline has more background in print publications. Liz understands big national  public relations campaigns, and Madeline knows all about social media.

Their own business website has been established at bobolinkvermont.com.
