NEWPORT — Nancy A. Swasey, 64, of Meadow Road, Newport, N.H., passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Feb. 2, 2019 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital due to declining health.
Nancy was born in Hanover, N.H. on July 1, 1954, the daughter of Eugene H. Sr. and Hazel (Quintey) Swasey.
She attended Goshen-Lempster School and graduated from Newport High School in 1973.
She worked at Dorr Woolen for 23 years, before working at Sturm, Ruger as a machine operator for nine years. She retired due to health problems.
Nancy was a “people-person”, she enjoyed meeting and talking with people. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone at anytime. She was also a “kid at heart” and loved to joke around. She loved her family and friends, especially just spending time together and sharing life. She enjoyed her computer and putting puzzles together.
She had a very special bond with her sister, Debra. She loved being with her and doing things together.
Nancy loved her two cats, Buffy and Jasmine. They were great companions to her.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her two brothers, Ernest in 2005 and Eugene, Jr. in 2008, and her sister, Brenda, in 2015.
She is survived by her sister, Debra M. Craig and her husband Paul, of Newport, N.H., nieces, nephews, cousins, and an uncle.
Friends may call at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport, N.H., from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019. A funeral service will be held at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2018 with the Rev. Stephen Hammond officiating.
