NEWPORT — There will be one new member on the Newport School Board following the March 12th election.
Incumbent Board Chairman Linda Wadensten filed for re-election to another three-year term. Russell Medbury filed for the second three-year term that opened up when Tim Renner decided not to run for a second term.
Also filing for re-election were William Howard Dunn, Moderator, and Robert Scott, District Clerk and District Treasurer.
Scott said he receives $200 as clerk and $1,200 for his job as treasurer. “Those stipends have not changed in 30 years,” he revealed. He has served in those two positions for three decades.
“I look at it as service to the community with a level of stability and one way of giving back,” Scott stated.
