UNITY – Chair of the select board Edward Gregory noted there was little controversy in Unity this year, which may have explained the low voter turnout. By 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, only about 100 voters out of the 1,100 registered to vote in Unity had stopped by the town hall to perform their civic duty. Gregory was re-elected with no opposition.
All election workers said this year was an improvement over the last two years, when town meeting day coincided with major snowfalls.
Three candidates ran for two positions on the school board: Robert McDevitt, incumbent, garnered 107 votes, Gordon Brann 54 and Shannon Popescu got 80.
