WASHINGTON — On Monday, March 11 at 3:20 p.m., N.H. Fish and Game conservation officers, as well as N.H. State Police of Troop C, and Washington Fire and Rescue/EMS responded to a single snowmobile crash on Trail 6 off of Dole School House Road in Washington.
Donald Robar, 50, of Sullivan was heading southeast on Snowmobile Trail 6 toward Windsor/Hillsboro when he approached a downhill corner in the trail going too fast, causing him to lose control and go off the trail. Robar’s riding companion called 911.
Washington Fire and Rescue/EMS arrived quickly to the scene, treating and packaging the victim, and then evacuating him from the woods to the road via their tracked UTV. Robar was then transported by Washington ambulance to an awaiting helicopter where he was flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Masschusetts for further evaluation and treatment. No further information is available at this time. Speed and inexperience are believed to be the primary contributing factors to the crash.
At this point in the season snowmobile riding in the southern part of the state requires special attention and consideration. The recent warm weather combined with rainy conditions has caused snow on many trails to be depleted down to the base ice layer or in many spots the bare ground of rocks, stumps, roots etc. Please use caution, reduce speeds, and pay attention for the many potential hazards on the trails.
