Recipients of 2019 St. Joseph’s Sports Night awards

These four Stevens High athletes were selected by a panel of educators and coaches, and all have been huge contributors for their school in numerous ways while wearing Cardinal red.

They will be honored at the award dinner at 6 p.m. March 20 at the Claremont Senior Center.

Audrey Puksta, awarded with best female student-athlete, is a member of the National Honors Society, SALT (Student Athletic Leadership Team), Key Club, Student Council, and was the winner of the Rosalind Franklin Science Award. All while playing varsity girls soccer, varsity track and field, and being a partner on the Cardinals unified basketball team.

Leeann McCarthy, awarded unsung female student-athlete, was the President of SALT, a member of the National Honors Society and Student Council, and won the George Eastman Young Leaders Award as well as the Bruce Dumont Memorial Award for Community Service. She played varsity soccer, was a partner for unified track and field, and was on both the fall and winter varsity spirit teams.

Trey Theriault, awarded best male student-athlete, is a four-year varsity baseball player and earned a 2018 NHIAA Division 3 Third Team All-State selection. He was selected to play in the 2018 Underwood Game, a chance for junior baseball players to display their athletic skills to over 40 college coaches and MLB scouts.

Karsten Kleyensteuber, awarded unsung male student-athlete, is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, National Honors Society, Youth and Government, Key Club, he’s an RPI Medalist, and he won the MJ Harrington Award. Along with being an All-State Trumpeter, Kleyensteuber also plays baseball and football.
