Allegedly impaired at the border

DERBY LINE, ROUTE 5 POINT OF ENTRY, Vt. — On March 14 at 4:03 p.m., the Vermont State Police received a report from US Customs and Border Protection at the Route 5 Point of Entry in Derby Line stating they had a male who they suspected was impaired by alcohol. A trooper responded and met with the male who was identified as Alec Kimball, 27, of Newport. Kimball showed signs of impairment and was asked to perform field sobriety exercises. Investigation revealed Kimball was impaired and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. Kimball was transported to the Derby Barracks where he was processed and later released on a citation. Kimball must reporter to Vermont Superior Court in Orleans on April 2 at 8:30 a.m. to answer the charge.
