Man arrested after charges of several years of domestic abuse

SAXTONS RIVER, Vt. — On Feb. 13, the Vermont State Police were made aware of several unreported domestic assaults based of a relief of abuse (RFA) order to be served on Daniel A. Zimmer, 46, of Saxtons River, Vermont. The Vermont State Police conducted an investigation on Zimmer based on statements acquired from several sources during the investigation. It was determined that there were several incidents of domestic abuse, both verbal, physical, and threatening ranging from September or October 2011 to November 2018. After conducting an investigation, it was determined that Zimmer committed the offenses of first degree aggravated domestic assault, and domestic assault.

On March 11, troopers from the Vermont State Police barracks in Westminster attempted to locate Zimmer at his residence in Saxtons River, after receiving information that Zimmer would be home the entire evening. After several attempts to locate Zimmer at his residence, troopers requested the court to issue an arrest warrant based on the above charges.

On March 14, Zimmer turned himself in at the Vermont State Police barracks in Westminster where he was arrested, and processed for the above charges. Zimmer was issued a criminal citation and released with conditions of release to answer to the above charges in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on March 15 at 1 p.m.
