HILLSBOROUGH — The N.H. Division of Forests and Lands will again be hosting the annual Cottrell-Baldwin Environmental Lecture Series at its Caroline A. Fox Research and Demonstration Forest in Hillsborough.
The series of lectures will be held on consecutive Tuesdays beginning March 19 and are timed to take place when people are ready to leave winter hibernation behind and start thinking about spring and summer outdoor activities.
Held in partnership with the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, the series celebrates the environmental and scholarly legacy of New Hampshire’s first state research forester, Henry Ives Baldwin, and Annette and Bill Cottrell, long-time members and benefactors of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.
The lectures all take place from 7-8:30 p.m. Topics are:
March 19: “Dragons and Damsels of New Hampshire” by Dr. Pamela Hunt, avian conservation biologist, N.H. Audubon
March 26: “The Original Forests of New Hampshire” by Charles Cogsbill, forest ecologist and co-author of “The Changing Nature of the Maine Woods
April 2: “New Hampshire’s Loons” by Harry Vogel, senior biologist and executive director of the Loon Preservation Committee
