To the editor,
As representatives of Claremont, I feel our city council has a moral obligation to reconsider a recent vote to censure the city councilor responsible for harassing a fellow citizen. By not acknowledging these threats as problematic, by remaining complacently apathetic, we choose to validate such actions. In our lack of response, we share responsibility with the insult committed. If we ignore such toxic behavior, then what is to stop the social climate of our city from worsening? As Dr. King said, an injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere. As a member of this community, having grown up here with family and friends, I cannot sit idly by while such disrespect from an elected official is surrounded by silence.
