CLAREMONT — SAU #6 announced Friday that Interim Superintendent Dr. Keith Pfeifer formally resigned as of Thursday, March 28.

The district released a formal acceptance thanking Pfeifer for his service and wishing him well in his future endeavors. Assistant Superintendent Cory LeClair will serve as the Superintendent until June 30.

LeClair also served as acting superintendent for part of 2018, after the SAU#6 school board resigned Superintendent of Schools Middleton McGoodwin in mid-June 2018. Pfeifer was hired in August 2018.

Pfeifer was asked to leave the administrative offices on February 13, when someone inside the building hit the panic alarm to call police. According to the police report, Finance Director Nathan Lavanway called the police to remove Pfeifer due to an incident that had occurred earlier that day.

The district recently hired a new superintendent of schools, Michael Tempesta, who will take up his duties July 1. Tempesta served as the executive director of the Central Massachusetts Special Education Collaborative in Worcester, Massachusetts and has held positions as the superintendent of schools in Saugus, principal at Milford High School and Ashland High School, and assistant principal at Sharon High School, all in Massachusetts. He is presently working on his Ph.D. (all but dissertation) through Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
