NEWPORT — Each year students in Grades 1-8 at Newport Montessori School work to prepare a Science Fair Night project.
Students initially form a hypothesis that they would like to test. They
then select a topic from that discipline to from their hypothesis.
The Lower Elementary Classroom works collaboratively as a whole class on
their given discipline. This year, the LE classroom worked Cuisine of
the Continents.
The Upper Elementary Classroom works in small groups on their given
discipline. This year, the UE will collaborate and discuss the scientific
method before selecting their individualized projects.
The Junior Classroom students worked individually or in pairs on their
projects. This year, their class was told, “the sky is the limit.” Like
middle school students, each projected experiment is unique and different!
Experiments had to do with Physical Science, Computer Science,
and Life Science.
