CLAREMONT – Amplified Arts on Pleasant Street is taking the next step to fulfill its threefold mission of expanding theater, film and art in Claremont. As recently filmed by Yankee Chronicle, Amplified Arts will open an art gallery to showcase local artists.

Director Shelly Hudson said the gallery will hold its opening night May 9, featuring the work of four artists. The public is invited to check out the art, eat light snacks, and “get tours of what we hope will be the entire space of Amplified Arts,” said Hudson.

Hudson and her staff regularly bring well known plays to life in the intimate upstairs space. Instead of a bank of chairs or a proscenium, seating is at tables eye-level with the performers.

Currently, “Rosen-crantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” is in production and will open at the end of the month.

“Streetside Artist Space and Gallery” will provide a place for local artists to sell their work. They can also rent working space in the building.

Hudson is also hoping to use space for art classes. To find out information about the gallery, auditions and future events, go to amplifiedartsnh.com.
