CLAREMONT — Tomorrow, May 4, starting at 8:30 a.m.,  an estimated 600 people will convene at Claremont Middle School in support of the 13th Annual Steppin’ Up to End Violence 5K Walk and Fun Run sponsored by Turning Points Network (TPN).

The 5K Walk and Fun Run raises money for TPN to provide free and confidential services and resources for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and sex trafficking in Sullivan County.

Chaired this year by Heidi Knight of Cross Insurance, over 80 teams and nearly 100 businesses have “Stepped Up” to support the event, actively fundraising, sponsoring, and donating raffle prizes. Teams and businesses represent faith communities, social services, first responders, local businesses and nonprofits.

“The hard work this community is putting in on behalf of the agency and survivors is outstanding,” said Jennifer Ucci, development director. “It highlights Sullivan County’s commitment to empowering and supporting survivors.”

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Claremont Middle School gymnasium. Participants are urged to arrive early and take advantage of free chair massages, team photos, and get their raffle tickets in. The rally begins at 9:45 a.m. with the presentation by the N.H. Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence of The National Visionary Voice Award to Claremont citizen and Steppin’ Up team leader, Liza Draper. The Fun Run and Walk will follow at 10 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to stay after for the post rally to find out how much everyone collectively raised, enjoy refreshments, and participate in the raffle drawings.

Everyone is urged to arrive early and carpool. Parking and event information can be found on the website at www.turningpointsnetwork.org or by calling 603-543-0155.
